In-the-know Argentinian chef Federico Perez Diaz has recently joined Comedor Grill & Bar at Islington as the restaurant’s new Head Chef.

On Thursday, 21/03/2013, Comedor launched Federico’s first menu.

Federico, after leaving his native Argentina 15 years ago, has worked in some of the best restaurants in Europe, before his curiosity and the quest for knowledge brought him to the UK. He led kitchens at, amongst others, MyHotel in Chelsea, Selfridges and most recently at Hippodrome Casino at Leicester Square.

As could be expected from a country with the highest consumption of beef in the world, the menu features a broad range of steaks, divided into Classic, such as filet or sirloin, and Comedor Special cuts, such asAsado de Tira and Vacio . However, the menu is not only about meat – it also offers a range of smaller and lighter options, such as Empanadas, with 5 filling options, or Ceviche – a medley of fresh cubes of catfish & sweet potato marinated in lime.

“I want to give beef lovers a chance to experience authentic steaks, prepared and served the way we do it in Argentina. Equally, I am delighted to be able to demonstrate some of the other tastes and dishes that make up the rich tapestry of Argentinian and South American cuisine.” says Federico

The new food menu is accompanied by an extensive, exclusively Argentinan, Chilean and Uruguayan wine list and an exciting choice of South American cocktails.
